Dallas, TX – LSU Eunice Women's Soccer used a hat trick from
Lucia Lorenzo-Parga (Galicia, Spain, IES Rafael Dieste) to highlight a road trip split in Texas this week. The Bengals (2-2-1) capped off a four-game road swing, the longest of the season.
LSUE began its Labor Day trip with a 2-1 setback to Western Texas College. The Bengals took the lead in the first half as
Marta San Teodoro-Gonzalez (Asturias, Spain, Colegio Paula Frassinetti) corralled a deflected ball and buried for the 41st minute goal. The Westerners would respond early in the second half with a goal of their own, forcing overtime.
In the extra period, a penalty kick was the decider as Western Texas won the game with a 99th minute tally from the spot.
The Bengals would respond in dominate fashion with a 5-0 defeat of Mountain View College. Lucia-Lorenzo-Parga paced the Bengals offense, grabbing her first career hat trick to go along with an assist.
The sophomore would get the scoring going early and often, netting a 4th minute goal off an assist from
Citlaly Santibanez (Dallas, TX, Wylie HS). Lorenzo-Parga would link with
Isabelle Smith (Lafayette, LA, Acadiana HS), connecting on a through ball to give Smith an easy 14th minute goal to make it 3-0 LSUE.
The second goal of the fast start would come in the 13th minute as Marta San Teodoro-Gonzales scorched a 30-yard blast into the back of the net.
Lorenzo-Parga's hat trick would come later in the match as unassisted goals in the 77th and 83rd minutes put an exclamation point of the offensive showcase.
Avery Wright (Temple, TX, Salado HS) would go the distance in net, stopping three shots in the clean sheet.
LSUE returns home on Saturday for a doubleheader against Southwest Mississippi CC. The action from the Cajun Prairie gets underway at 5:00PM.
