LSUE SOFTBALL RANKS 12TH IN OPENING NJCAA POLLS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – JANUARY 22, 2025

EUNICE, LA. -  LSU Eunice Softball starts the 2025 season ranked 12th in the NJCAA Division II Softball polls, the association released this week.  The Bengals' 2025 schedule features 13 games against five separate teams ranked in their respective preseason polls.

LSUE is one of four Region 23/Gulf South District teams to be featured in the first tabulation of the season – joining Jones College (4), Copiah-Lincoln CC (6), and Pearl River (11).

Meghan Collins begins her sixth year atop the helm on the Cajun Prairie as LSUE begins the regular season next weekend at the Mardi Gras Invitational at the Youngsville Sports Complex beginning January 31.

LSUE returns a healthy portion from last year's 42-14 squad, now entering its sixth season under head coach Meghan Collins.  The Bengals will be led by a veteran pitching staff, welcoming back four contributors from last season headlined by ace Reagan Rios.  The sophomore went 19-8 last season with a 2.64 earned run average.

Offensively, LSUE returns three regulars from a year ago, comprising of corner infielders Kate Rills and Hadley Lemons as well as pitcher/designated player McKenna Howell.  Howell led the team last year with 47 runs batted in.
