EUNICE, La. – The goals started early for LSU Eunice Women's Soccer, and they never stopped during the Bengals' 13-0 runaway win over Northeast Texas CC on Sunday at the Bengal Soccer Complex. The 13 goals by LSU Eunice (3-0-1) sets a new single-game program record, beating the previous mark of 9 set twice during the 2023 and 2018 seasons.
The duo of
Madison Paujaud (Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, High Mowing Waldorf School) and
Emily Poste (Copperas Cove, TX, Copperas Cove HS) put together an offensive showcase in the early moments of the match. The duo would each net a hat trick in the first 18 minutes of the game, giving LSUE a commanding 6-0 lead. The Bengals would push across four more goals before halftime as
Keira Herrmann (Lutcher, LA, Lutcher HS),
Greta Bailey (Perth, Australia, St. Mary's Anglican Girls School),
Chloe Gomez (Nederland, TX, Nederland HS) and
Ella Stewart (Linlithgow, Scotland, Linlithgow Academy) all made the scoresheet.
The Bengals added three more goals before the match was called in the 70th minute as a mercy rule victory.
Katherine Evans (Chiche, France, Lycee De La Venise Verte Niort) scored her first goal as a Bengal, while
Anllely Fuentes Acosta (Ocaña-Norte de Santander, Colombia, Francisco Fernandez de Contreras) had a quick brace in the 65th and 69th minutes.
Joselin Gonzalez (Houston, TX, MacArthur HS) and Fuentes were responsible for three assists each, while Poste also added a pair of helpers.
Catherine Beckman (Walker, LA, Walker HS) had the best seat in the house for the offensive surge, collecting her first clean sheet of the season. The freshman goalkeeper needed to stop one shot to pick up the shutout.
LSUE embarks on a rugged four-game road swing beginning Friday at preseason ranked No. 12 Trinity Valley.
