LSUE Trio Named To NJCAA All-American Team

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball saw three of its standout student-athletes named to the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I All-American team, the organization announced on Wednesday.  Lane Fenske (New Iberia, LA, Catholic-New Iberia HS) was named to the first-team, while Aidan Mouton (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) and Andrew Clapinski (Baton Rouge, LA, Catholic-Baton Rouge HS) were both third-team selections.

The three All-American selections are the most for the Bengals since 2021, tying the program record for the most in a single season.  It's the tenth time under head coach Jeff Willis the Bengals have had multiple All-Americans in a campaign..  The three All-Americans give the Bengals 43 All-Americans in the program's history.

"These three young men not only led our team on the field, but were leaders in the classroom and community," LSU Eunice Baseball head coach Jeff Willis said.  "This recognition is a product of how they strive for excellence in everything they do."

Fenske is the 14th first-team NJCAA All-American in program history and the sixth pitcher to receive the honor.  He is just the sixth freshman at LSU Eunice to earn first-team honors, joining an exclusive list of Steven Sensley (2015), Raph Rhymes (2010), Trey Watkins (2009), Delta Cleary (2008) and Kenny Plaisance (2003).

The freshman ace put together one of the best pitching seasons ever on the Cajun Prairie.  Fenske tied the single season wins mark with his 15-0 record, which also ranked second most in the nation this season.  The right-hander led the Bengals with a 3.19 earned run average while tossing four complete games.

The Catholic-New Iberia product struck out 98 batters, finishing 13th nationally and ranking 12th all-time in LSU Eunice single season history.  The Region 23 first-team pitcher threw 93 innings which ranked second in the nation.

Fenske shined bright in the postseason, sporting a 2-0 record and 3.15 ERA in three starts while recording 21 strikeouts and just seven walks.  He totaled ten strikeouts – one of two double digit strikeout performances during the season – in a Region 23 Tournament win over Delgado on May 9, hurled seven innings with seven punchouts in a Game Two win over Shelton State in the South District Series, and tossed six strong innings in a no decision against Miami Dade in LSUE's JUCO World Series opener.

Mouton caps one of the most productive careers at LSU Eunice, leaving as the all-time career leader in batting average (.411), runs scored (161), home runs (25), total bases (256), slugging percentage (.683), and on-base percentage (.543).  He's also fourth all-time in hits (154), fourth in runs batted in (128), third in walks (87), ninth in hit by pitch (31), and ninth in stolen bases (61).

During the 2026 season, Mouton's offensive prowess was on full display, leading the team with a .429 batting average and finishing Top 12 nationally in runs scored (91), walks (53), and stolen bases (38).  The Notre Dame HS product's .575 on-base percentage is the best in single season history, while his 91 runs scored were the second most in an LSU Eunice single season.  He etched his name throughout the single season history book with his .429 batting average ranking third, 14 home runs ranks sixth, 75 runs batted in ranks sixth, .728 slugging percentage ranks sixth, and 53 walks rank third.

The Region 23 Most Valuable Player had 13 multi-hit games and 19 multi-RBI games.  Mouton produced a career-high five RBIs in LSUE's Game Two win over Shelton State in the South District Championship, going 3-for-5 including a two-run home run.  The versatile two-way player, Mouton also served as the Bengals' closer during the 2026 season, recording three saves in nine appearances.

Defensively, Mouton sported a .982 fielding percentage with just three errors in 168 chances.  He was part of 18 of the team's 34 double plays.

Clapinski established himself as a key cog in the LSU Eunice offensive, leading the team with 89 runs batted – the second most in a single season in Bengals' history.  The freshman also led the team in hits (86) and doubles (21).  He was one of four Bengals to hit double digit home runs, smashing 15 long balls – the third most at LSUE in a season.  He added a .410 batting average and 74 runs scored to his impressive statistical campaign.

The catcher led LSU Eunice with 24 multi-hit games and 24 multi-RBI games, tallying three games of five RBIs.  He became the first LSU Eunice player since 2021 to hit three home runs in a game during a 14-6 win over Nunez CC on April 11 during a doubleheader that saw him collect eight RBIs in the two wins.

The Region 23 first-team selection at catcher was one of the dominant forces behind the plate, throwing out 19 base runners – ranking 12th nationally – with a 40.4% caught stealing percentage.
