GAME ONE
LSU Eunice used an early onslaught to help secure a 6-0 opener against Baton Rouge CC. The Bengals were helped by a four RBI afternoon from sophomore Ally Howard.
Two singles and a hit by pitch to lead off the first inning had the Bengals in prime position for a big frame with the bases loaded and no outs. Ally Howard and Darian Doucet drew walks to score runs while Maleah Saucedo capped off the inning with a run scoring single to centerfield.
Howard led off the scoring again in the second inning with a two-RBI double to push the LSUE lead to 5-0. The sophomore finished the scoring in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly to right field to help Mima Doucet score.
Doucet collected a team-high three hits on the game and scored three times. Madison Monson and Sierra Gasca both tallied multi-hit games.
Heather Zumo continued her dominance in the circle amassing her sixth complete game shutout of the season. Zumo (25-7) sat down five BRCC batters while scattering seven hits and allowing one walk.
Shelby Breaux picked up the loss for the Bears after giving up 10 hits and six runs.
GAME TWO
Haley Godeaux's RBI-double in the sixth inning helped break a tie ball game and deliver LSU Eunice a regular season ending 5-4 win over BRCC. The victory gave the Bengals their 13th doubleheader sweep of the season.
LSUE saw an early lead slip away as BRCC mounted a four-run third inning to take a brief edge. The Bengals responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, setting the stage for Godeaux's dramatics.
Madison Monson opened the game up with a run scoring single after Mima Doucet led off with a triple. Monson would later score on a Darian Doucet sacrifice fly to give LSUE a 2-0 lead.
Following BRCC's four-run frame, LSUE answers back with Lakyn Wales and Darian Doucet driving in runs on consecutive at-bats.
Emily Henderson collected two of LSUE's six hits in the game. Madison Monson led the squad with two runs scored.
Jeanne Trahan picked up the win with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. Trahan (9-4) did not allow a hit and struck out one batter. Morghan LaTour received the no-decision after tossing 3.2 frames, giving up four runs off three hits and three walks.
