EUNICE, La. – The LSU Eunice Softball duo of
Payton Prince (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) and
Mylie Elsensohn (Pearl River, LA, Pearl River HS) were named to the 2026 Louisiana Sportswriters Association (LSWA) All-Louisiana Softball Team, the organization announced this week. Prince and Elsensohn were both named honorable mentions.
The recognitions mark seven straight seasons LSU Eunice has landed at least one representative on the LSWA All-Louisiana Team. NJCAA institutions were added to the voting in 2019. The LSWA All-Louisiana Team consists of all two- and four-year colleges and universities in the state and was voted on by a LSWA panel of media and college sports publicists.
Prince, an honorable mention All-LSWA selection a year ago, continues her impressive postseason award haul. The sophomore was named to NFCA All-South Region team as well as the NFCA and NJCAA All-American teams.
The two-year starter caps off one of the most successful careers in the last decade of LSUE softball. The McNeese State signee finishes her career on the Cajun Prairie ranked in the top 10 in both home runs (31) and stolen bases (91). During the 2026 season, Prince led the LSU Eunice offense in runs (61), hits (62), doubles (12), home runs (18), runs batted in (63), hit by pitch (14), batting average (.425), slugging percentage (.918), and on-base percentage (.514).
She ranked in the Top 25 nationally in slugging percentage, stolen bases, hit by pitch, and home runs. Prince also paced the squad with 22 multi-hit contests and 18 multi-RBI games. While a force on the offensive end, defense is where she really shined – committing just one error in 104 chances.
Elsensohn quickly became a vital part to the LSU Eunice lineup, setting the table as the Bengals' lead off hitter. The slapper led the team with 24 walks, was second on the squad in hits (60), runs (54), and stolen bases (44). Her 44 stolen bases are the fifth most in a LSU Eunice single season.
The freshman was second on the team with 18 multi-hit games, including a four-hit performance against Northwest Mississippi in the Region 23 Tournament. She would score the game winning run on February 7 against Kirkwood, who would later be the number one team in the nation.
Southeastern Louisiana led the All-Louisiana team with five players on the 14-member first team. SLU pitcher Hallie Burns was named Pitcher of the Year, while head coach Rick Fremin was named Coach of the Year for a third consecutive season. Other major awards included LSU's Jalia Lassiter (Hitter of the Year), LSU shortstop Kylee Edwards (Newcomer of the Year), and Louisiana's Haley Hart (Freshman of the Year).
