EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Soccer overcame a late deficit with two goals in the final 20 minutes to score a 2-1 victory over Western Texas College on Friday at the Bengal Soccer Complex. The win is LSU Eunice's (3-4-1) first come from behind decision of the season.
After gridlock throughout much of the mid-day matchup, it was Western Texas that would strike first. The Westerners connected on a 61st minute goal to take the late lead.
LSU Eunice would fight back, however, as the sophomore duo of
Gisell Lupita Jimenez Rodriguez (Cali, Colombia, Colegio Santa Isabel de Hungria) and
Sadie Bourgeois (Saint Amant, LA, Saint Amant HS) would score unassisted goals to put the Bengals on top. Jimenez blasted a 72nd minute equalizer, followed by Bourgeois's 80th minute winner.
Anais Coyne (Mansfield, TX, Mansfield Legacy HS) stood tall in the next the final third of the game, collected six saves on the afternoon.
LSU Eunice continues its small homestand with a Friday, September 29 contest against Cisco College.
