EUNICE -- Top-ranked LSU Eunice knocked off fifth-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast 12-4 and 7-5 here Wednesday in a doubleheader. The two teams scheduled the matchup after The Lady Bulldogs games for the week were canceled due to rain.
Emily Henderson, the freshman from Stonewall, La., hit two home runs in game two. She now has 11 on the season, keeping her on top of the Division II home run statistics category.
LSU Eunice dominates several categories in the NJCAA Division II overall season statistics. The Lady Bengals hold the top four spots in runs batted in.
Rebecca Skains (West Ouachita HS) in first the nation with 34 followed by Rae'Shaun Malancon (30), Henderson (26) and Darby Bishop (24). The girls hold three of the top five spots in home runs. Henderson is first with 11. Skains and

Savanna Cates (Hargrave HS) has the most wins in the nation. She has 12 victories on the mound for the Lady Bengals. She also is first in the nation in saves with three.
Game 1: LSUE 12, MGCCC 4
The Lady Bengals used an eight-run fourth inning, sparked by a Bishop double, to break a 3-3 tied game and seal the win in five innings.
Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the third inning, Bishop doubled to center field and drove in Skains. A Molly Wilson line drive allowed Malancon to scored and then Skains doubled scoring three runs. Bishop returned to the plate, hitting a single to center field that scored Skains and with that LSU took an 11-3 lead.
Both teams would add a run in the fifth, but the game ended on the mercy rule when Skains' double drove in
Sierra Gasca (West Ouachita HS).
Skains finished 4-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored.
Bishop (Newton County HS) and
Wilson (Castor HS) were 3-for-3. Bishop drove in four RBIs, and Wilson added two.
Cates went the distance for LSUE. She earned the win with two earned runs and one strikeout against 20 batters.
Game 2: LSUE 7, MGCCC 5
Henderson's second home run of the game and Bishop double allowed LSUE to pick up the 7-5 win against the fifth-ranked Lady Bulldogs.
Down 5-1 in the fifth inning, Gulf Coast scored four runs to tie the game. Henderson hit a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, and the Lady Bengals pulled out in front 6-5. Facing two outs, Bishop doubled to center field, and Skains scored giving Lady Bengals a 2-run lead.
Gulf Coast advanced a runner to third off a pass ball and a Lady Bengal error, but the next three batters went down, and LSUE survived the comeback attempt.
Henderson was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Bishop finished 3-for-4. She and Malancon each had 2 RBIs.
Elizabeth Fontenot (Port Barre HS) picked up the win for the Lady Bengals. She pitched six innings, striking out two batters and allowing 4 earned runs. Cates earned the save.
LSUE improved to 20-2 on the season, and Mississippi Gulf Coast falls to 6-2.
