Box Score EUNICE -- Back-to-back home runs by LSU Eunice's Jeanmarie Angelle and Rae'Shaun Malancon helped the Lady Bengals mercy rule Coffeyville Community College 8-0 in their home opener here Friday.
The NJCAA mercy rule is seven-run lead after five innings.
Up by four in the bottom of the fifth inning,
Malancon (Ascension HS) hit a home run and drove in
Emily Henderson (North Desoto HS) and
Molly Wilson (Castor HS). Then
Angelle (Cecilia HS) stepped up to bat and knocked one over the fence to give the Lady Bengals the 8-0 win.
Early in the game,
Bobbi Smith (West Ouachita HS) scored on a flyout to center field. Wilson got on base and Henderson drove in
Rebecca Skains (West Ouachita HS) who was waiting on third base. That gave LSUE the early 3-0 lead.
In the second inning,
Jordan Bishop (Newton County HS) added to more RBIs with a hit. Smith and
Hope Vezinat (Dutchtown HS) scored.
Savanna Cates (Hargrave HS) picked up the win for Lady Bengals. She's now 4-0 on the season. She pitched four innings and struck out 7 Coffeyville batters.
Smith was 2 for 3 batting with two runs scored. Angelle was 2 for 3 with a RBI and a run scored. Malancon finished 1 for 3 with 3 RBIs and a run scored. Bishop hit 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs.
LSUE is now 5-1 on the season, while Coffeyville Community College out of Kansas falls to 0-3.
