Box Score NICEVILLE – The Lady Bengals exploded for seven runs in the first inning as LSUE rolled to a 10-2 win over Lansing Community College Saturday at the Northwest Florida tournament.
The early rally began when
Molly Wilson (Castor HS) and
Jordan Bishop (Newton County HS) singled before a double by
Rae'Shaun Malancon (Ascension Catholic HS) pushed across the first run.
Hannah Vidallier (North Vermillion HS) walked and Bishop scored on a passed ball that moved Malancon to third.
Mima Doucet (Notre Dame HS) singled in Malancon, while Vidallier crossed home plate on a hit by
Bobbi Smith (West Ouachita HS).
Doucet and Smith scored on a double by
Emily Henderson (North Desoto HS) as the Lady Bengals pushed ahead, 6-0.
Wilson singled in in Henderson for her second hit of the inning and LSUE led by seven runs.
Lansing closed the gap to 7-2 in the bottom of the third inning, aided by a 2-RBI double from Jordan Schneider.
The Lady Bengals added two more insurance runs in the top of the fifth as Vidallier and Doucet both singled and scored on a double by Smith.
LSUE closed the win with a run in the seventh when Malancon singled and pinch runner
Mary Guillory (St. Louis Catholic HS) scored on a fly out by Vidallier.
Elizabeth Fontenot (Port Barre HS) earned the win as she struck out three, walked two and allowed two earned runs on five hits over six innings.
Vidallier allowed one hit over four batters she faced in one shut-out frame.
Smith went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored, while Bishop went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Wilson and Malancon went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored as five Lady Bengals had multiple hits.
