The second-ranked Lady Bengals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning begun when
Molly Wilson (Castor HS) tripled to right field and scored on an infield error.
Rebecca Skains (West Ouachita HS) singled, stole second and scored on a hit by
Bobbi Smith (West Ouachita HS), who advanced on a passed ball, stole third before scoring on an error.
LSUE added two runs with two outs in the bottom of the second, begun when
Jeannemarie Angelle (Cecilia HS) singled and scored on Wilson's double.
Skains then singled in Wilson to push the Lady Bengals ahead, 5-0.
Illinois Central closed the gap to 5-1 in the top of the fourth inning when Madisyn McCoy doubled and scored on a hit by Brooke Gardner.

LSUE added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth when Smith reached on an error, stole second and third before scoring when
Lakyn Wales (Zachary HS) grounded out to the pitcher.
Illinois Central rallied for two runs in the top of the sixth inning as McCoy and Gardner both singled and scored on a Lady Bengal error.
LSUE got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Wilson singled to center, stole second and scored on a hit by
Rae'Shaun Malancon (Ascension Catholic HS).
Illinois Central closed the gap to 9-4 with a run in the top of the seventh when Abrianna Hale doubled and scored on a hit by Abby Jaques.
Abigail Leonards (Iota HS) grabbed the complete-game victory as she struck out four, walked one and allowed three earned runs on four hits.
Wilson went 4-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored, while Smith finished 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored and Doucet went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
The Lady Bengals will face Kirkwood Community College at 10:30 a.m. Saturday before taking on Labette Community College at 3:30 p.m. as the NFCA Lead-Off Classic continues.
